Upcoming Events
Here are some events that you might be interested in attending with your children.
Sunday, December 6 from around 12:15pm at iias
About five TIS students will be performing a song with Kurie Tsukuba in celebration of the 100 Christmas Trees event. Kurie Tsukuba is a local drama club where our students are learning to act, sing, and dance. (This is the same group that did “Adventures in Jamblini” at Capio last May and gave a workshop at TIS in June.) Please come and support their efforts!
Thursday, December 10 to Sunday, December 13 from 11am to 6pm in Moriya
Our students’ pottery will be on display at Gallery Galatea Far East (ギャラリー・ガラティア・ファーイースト) in Moriya. Contact the gallery (0297-45-9792) for more information.
Wednesday, December 23 from 3pm and 6pm in Mito
Kurie (the drama club mentioned above) also has another branch in Hitachinaka. The Kurie Hitachinaka branch will hold their annual Christmas Concert in Mito. No TIS students are in this performance, but it is a fun event for kids to see and it might inspire some of them to try out theatre arts.
Sunday, January 17 from 1pm to 5pm at Tsukuba Capio
Another Kurie event! This one is a free trial lesson for people of all ages who are interested in trying out the theatre arts (acting, singing, dancing). No previous experience required. The class for preschool kids is from 1:10pm to 2pm and the class for everyone else is from 2:15pm to 4:45pm. Contact the Kurie team through their website for more information and to apply.
Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 5pm in Mito
Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 2pm in Tsukuba
Friday, February 19, 2010 from 7pm in Tokyo
Youchi Henbo, the recorder teacher at TIS, will be giving three performances of “La pazzia, il dolore e la gioia”. The Tsukuba concerts will be at ARS Hall (near the public library in Tsukuba Center) and tickets are 2500 yen for adults and 1500 yen for students of high school age and under. More information about this event (in Japanese) is available on Mr. Henbo’s website.
