Seeking: Financial Officer

Tsukuba International School (TIS) offers an international education for children in Grades 1 to 10. We are currently seeking a financial officer to join our administrative staff. This successful candidate will start in February 2012, or as soon as possible after that.
Eligibility
The following are non-negotiable credentials for applying for this position.
- Native Japanese proficiency
- High level of proficiency in English
- University degree
Range of Experience
We hope to find a candidate with the following range of experience.
- Experience working in a school or educational organization (学校法人)
- Experience working as an accountant, or managing the accounts for an organization
- Experience working in an international environment
Qualities
We hope to find a candidate with the following qualities.
- Able to work in an international environment with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
- Able to work with confidential information with discretion
Duties
The successful candidate will be tasked with the following primary responsibilities.
- Managing the school’s finances, including invoicing, payroll, budgeting, domestic and international money transfers
- Reporting on finances to the principal, the accountant, the board of directors, the tax authorities, and other governmental entities
- Acting as a liaison between the school and the board of directors
- Acting as a liaison between the school and the local, prefectural, and national government
- Coordinating fundraising efforts and thinking of new fundraising opportunities for the school
- Responding to surveys about the school
- Attending weekly staff meetings
The successful candidate will also be asked to assist with the following secondary responsibilities.
- Helping to recruit students
- Creating content in Japanese for the school’s website and advertising campaigns
- Helping school staff with various official procedures (alien registration, immigration, rental contracts, etc.)
- Representing the school at official functions
The above lists are not comprehensive. Other duties may be assigned, based on the school’s needs and the candidate’s capabilities.
Working Conditions
Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Salary: based on experience
Vacation: 10 days paid personal leave, all Japanese national holidays plus winter, spring, Golden Week, and summer vacations
