Tsukuba International School (TIS) offers an international education for children from age 3 to 16 (Kindergarten to Grade 10). We are an IB World School authorized to implement the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB). We are a candidate school for the Diploma Programme (DP) and we are currently working toward gaining authorization to offer the DP from August 2017. (Note that candidate status does not guarantee that authorization will be granted.)
We are currently seeking a part-time physical education teacher to start in August 2017. The successful candidate will teach physical and health education to students in the preschool, and elementary and junior high school and will participate in collaborative planning with the other teachers at the school.
As TIS is an IB World School, experienced IB/PYP teachers will be given preference, although certified teachers with a strong interest in inquiry-based learning, collaborative planning, and the PYP will also be considered.

The following are non-negotiable credentials for applying for this position.
- Native-level English proficiency.
- Valid and up-to-date first aid and CPR certifications (or willing to obtain or update certification within a few months of starting)

Range of Experience
We will give preference to candidates with the following kinds of experience.
- University degree in education (preferably with a specialization in physical and health education) from a country with an English language-based curriculum.
- Experience teaching physical and health education
- Experience teaching at the preschool, elementary and/or junior high school level
- Experience teaching the Primary Years Programme or Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate
- Experience teaching at an international school, or in a multicultural environment.
- Experience teaching non-native speakers of English.
- Experience with collaborative planning.
- Experience living in Japan, or living abroad
Dates: Monday mornings, Tuesday mornings, Wednesday mornings, Thursday (all day), Friday mornings during the school year
Time: 8:00am to 4:30pm
Contract: August 2017 to June 2018
