Tsukuba International School has a cooperative agreement with Tsukuba Science City Network. International researchers who work for research institutes and universities that belong to the Tsukuba Science City Network can benefit from reduced tuition fees. This is the school’s way of contributing to an environment that allows research institutes in Tsukuba to invite top level researchers from abroad to come to Tsukuba.

  • One or both parents work as a researcher at a research institute or university affiliated with Tsukuba Science City Network
  • One or both parents are non-Japanese
  • Both parents’ (gross) salary combined does not exceed 8,000,000 yen per year

Up to five students per year can take advantage of this agreement.

Application Procedure

  • Applicants must apply through their research institute or university.
  • The research institute/university contacts Tsukuba International School to discuss the application.
  • The research institute/university issues a statement of employment (including the job title and the length of the contract) and a statement of salary.
