Tsukuba International School obtained authorization to offer the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in April 2017. Our first cohort of DP students started in August 2017 and graduated in June 2019.

Students take the DP Core subjects and a maximum of six courses over the two years of the Diploma Programme, one from each group. The Group 6 subject can be replaced with a second subject in another group. Students may take a maximum of one course online.


DP Courses offered in 2023-24 (Class of 2024)

The following courses are offered at TIS for the cohort that will graduate in 2024.

  • DP Core: Theory of Knowledge; Extended Essay; Creativity, Activity, Service
  • Group 1: English (SL/HL), Japanese (SL/HL)
  • Group 2: Japanese (SL/HL)
  • Group 3: Global Politics (SL/HL)
  • Group 4: Biology (SL/HL), Chemistry (SL/HL), Physics (HL)
  • Group 5: Math Applications and Interpretation (SL/HL), Math Analysis and Approaches (SL/HL)
  • Group 6: Art (SL/HL)
