A TIS Anthology
The junior students have been working on a poetry unit in their Language Arts class. They wrote many poems in many different forms and have compiled them into an anthology. You can download a pdf file of four of the best poems here.

Harvesting Rice
In the spring we planted rice, and this fall we returned to the rice fields to harvest it. After we practiced harvesting rice the old-fashioned way, we watched local farmers do it the modern way. Finally, we ate the farmers’ handmade onigiri (rice balls), which tasted much better than those store-bought ones.

Student Report by SM: Digging Bamboo Shoots
We dug up some bamboo shoots. One student dug up a giant bamboo shoot. I thought it was easy to dig up the bamboo shoots. Our friends made us a picnic with food made from takenoko. I hope I can go to the takenoko forest again.
