The Tsukuba International School campus will remain closed until Monday, May 11 (the week after Golden Week).
We have made this decision in order to give stability to our community over the next few weeks. Until now, we have been making the decision every week based on the idea that this will be over “soon”, so we wanted to maintain the flexibility to be able to call everyone back as soon as the situation warranted it. However, it doesn’t seem like we are going to be in a position to get back to a normal school paradigm as soon as we had hoped.
As the reports of coronavirus cases increase and we continue to face some of the peripheral issues that this crisis has caused (such as the lack of supplies like masks and alcohol wipes, and the disruption to postal services), we would like the TIS Virtual School (TISVS) to serve as a stable factor in the lives of everyone in our community.
We will continue to monitor the situation on a weekly basis, and if there does seem to be some progress in the right direction, or some indication that we have passed a critical point, then we will re-evaluate our stance and inform the community.
We will ensure the continuance of learning through the TISVS during this time.
