Accreditation

Tsukuba International School has been a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) since 2015, and has been accredited by CIS since 2018. Our next evaluation will be in 2024 as a synchronized continuum evaluation with the International Baccalaureate.

Authorizations

Tsukuba International School is an IB World School authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate.

We have been authorized for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) since 2011. The PYP was evaluated in 2015.

We have been authorized for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) since 2014. The MYP was evaluated in 2019.

We have been authorized for the Diploma Programme (DP) since 2017.

We were evaluated as a continuum (three-programme) school in 2021.

Our next evaluation will be in 2024 as a synchronized continuum (three-programme) evaluation with the Council of International Schools.

Membership

Tsukuba International School has been a member of the Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS) since 1998.

Tsukuba International School has been a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) since 2018.

Recognition of Status

Tsukuba International School is categorized as a “miscellaneous school” (kakushu gakkou, 各種学校, the standard category for international schools in Japan) run by Tsukuba Global Academy, which was recognized as an educational organization (gakkou houjin, 学校法人) by Ibaraki Prefecture in 2009.
